Hey there Reader,
Let’s talk about fear for a moment. It’s something we all feel, especially when it comes to stepping outside our comfort zones. Maybe you’re worried about getting lost on a trail, or feeling awkward being out alone, or even just wondering if you’re “doing it right.”
I get it. I’ve been there too.
A few years ago, I decided to go on my first long hike. I was excited, but as the day got closer, my mind started racing with “what ifs.”
What if I couldn’t make the entire trail?
What if I got lost?
What if I got hurt?
What if I encountered a bear?
But here’s the thing: I went anyway. And yes, I took a wrong turn on the trail. And yes, there were moments when I felt lonely. But you know what? I also felt proud. Proud that I didn’t let fear stop me. Proud that I showed up for myself. And by the end, I felt stronger and more capable than ever.
It is forever my favorite memory. Three Ridges on the Blue Ridge Parkway – all 13 miles of it. And I will be going on this hike again this year and I cannot wait!
So, if fear is holding you back, I want to remind you of this: Fear is just a feeling, not a fact. You are stronger than you think, and the trail—whether literal or metaphorical—is waiting for you.
Here’s a mantra I love to repeat when fear creeps in:
“I am brave. I am capable. I am ready for this adventure.”
Say it with me. Write it down. Carry it with you. And the next time fear tries to hold you back, remind yourself: you’ve got this.
Cheers,
Petra
