What Creativity Really Means (It’s Not Just Art)
Somewhere along the way, we were taught that creativity belonged to “artists.”
You know the type: gallery walls, paint-splattered aprons, perfectly staged sketchbooks.
And if that wasn’t you? Then you were told you must not be the creative one.
But here’s the truth: Creativity isn’t a talent. It’s a way of living.
And chances are you’ve been creative all along. You just didn’t call it that.
Creativity Is Resourcefulness
If you’ve ever turned leftovers into dinner…
Made up a bedtime story on the fly…
Solved a problem with duct tape and sheer will…
That’s creativity.
It’s not just about wood burning or painting or writing poems in a journal (though I love all of those).
It’s about your ability to make something new, from what you have, where you are, right now.
Creativity Is Expression
It’s in the way you speak.
The way you arrange a room.
The way you remember your childhood in fragments and feelings and stitch it back together with meaning.
Sometimes it shows up in fire and wood, like it does for me.
Sometimes it shows up in movement, or how you hold space for someone, or how you get back up after being broken open.
You Don’t Have to Be “Artsy”
You just have to notice.
To allow yourself to make, even if it’s messy.
To stop waiting for permission.
And if you are someone who wants to reconnect with creativity through something tangible, like pyrography, you’re in the right place. But whether you ever touch a wood-burning tool or not, your creativity matters.
